About MindMaxer
MindMaxer is a flashcard app built on spaced repetition. After you see an answer you rate the card from 1 to 5, and that rating decides when it comes back, sooner for the cards you missed and later for the ones you knew.
How it started
I built MindMaxer as a study tool for myself while I was preparing for tech job interviews. Somewhere along the way I got fascinated by spaced repetition, the idea that reviewing something just before you'd forget it makes it stick far longer.
Preparing with flashcards and spaced repetition paid off when I got a job as a .NET web application developer. I still use MindMaxer, and over time it became what you see here, with goals and a planner for when you have a date to be ready by, and Insights charts that show what you actually remember.
What it's for
Each collection can have a goal with the date of the interview or exam you're studying for, and the planner works out how much to study each day to be ready by then. I want it to help other people the way it helped me, whether that means landing the job they're after or doing well in a class.
How it works
A card you rate 1 comes back in 2 minutes and a 5 comes back in a week, and every 4 or 5 in a row doubles the wait, up to a year. You study ten cards at a time, so you can stop after any round and pick up later where you left off.
The research on why spacing works is in Why spaced repetition works, and the help pages walk through each feature.
Your cards stay yours
Any deck can be exported as a CSV file on any plan, or all of them at once as a zip. If a Pro membership ends, nothing gets deleted. The oldest 100 cards stay open, and the rest open again when Pro comes back.
Who builds it
One developer builds and runs MindMaxer, so the person reading your feedback is the one who writes the code. If you have an account, send bugs or ideas from Feedback in the app menu.
